PASHET
Artist Statement
My life as an artist is a continuum of awakenings.
A journey of creative exploration, taking me deeper into the realms of self-discovery.
This work is about transformation, over time I have been refining form into patterns of encoded sensation.
Being in the moment of creativity becomes a meditation in motion and is as integral as the finished piece.
Inspired by music, it humours me to see this work as play, leading away from the analytical mind
and back to a more spontaneous source of rhythm.
Treasure Maps
Biomorphic patterns lead the eye on a journey ever searching for unfound treasure only to reach an epiphany that the map is the treasure.
A reflection on the metaphor of life, where each moment of the journey becomes the destination.
There is always something waiting to show itself … to be discovered.
The Dot
A dot … is a dot … is a dot.
yet this ambiguous little formation is also allegory of
a particle…a planet … a place in time.
The beauty of the dot is that it can encompass all in one simple symbolic gesture,
yet when a few dots get together they evoke a visual representation of form.
The Line
The line is the way…the path… the sound wave.
The line is also the suggestion of feeling as information.
The beauty of a line is the expression of its sensitivity.
The flow of successive lines create harmony in movement.
The Dotted Line
Depicted throughout my art is a stream of dots strung together to form line that fragment back into dots.
The complimenarity of these two forms in harmony create inexhaustible opportunity.
As the polarities of left and right brain in harmony with the heart beat.
As the latent fusion of waves and particles that show us the light.
Pattern is Sound
Iv'e always wondered, if sound waves can be seen through patterns in water and sand…what would the patterns and visions of paint sound like?
I am fascinated by the natural world, how things are formed from sound, and how even our thoughts create patterns…therefor creating our reality.
This is the art of surround sound vibrating in patterns of inner truth.
Biography
Pashet was born to prolific artist parents in the little coastal town, East London in South Africa, 1975.
Surrounded by this constant creative presence at home lead to art becoming her passion in life and later her calling.
She studied fine art and design at JHB school of Art, Ballet, Drama and Music followed by commercial digital design for advertising;
however she still considers her parents to be her mentors from early years of dedicated training, giving her the tools,
freedom and inspiration to explore the world of imagination and creativity.
Based in London after her travels in Africa, Pashet's work is now a diverse combination of mixed media interweaving digital art,
collage, paint and her more recent hand drawn monochrome patterns.
Realism and surrealism playfully merge into one with soulful humorous imagination.
Her diverse application of pigment varies from fine translucent oil blending to applying thick raw pigment directly from paint tube to canvas.
A refreshingly illuminated colour spectrum brings Pashet’s work to life in these poetically charged artworks.
